News Diet Failure!

A few posts back I said that I was going on a “News Diet.” I was originally planning to avoid the news for at least a month. However, I am sad to say that I didn’t last more than 2 days. I couldn’t help but visit my favorite news sites and as I did I came to the realization that to me, the news is entertainment. Its how I kill time when I am bored. Which isnt very good because I don’t have as much free time as I think.

Anyway I think its alright to be informed of what’s going on in the world, the trick is to not let it affect you too much. You also have to realize that news sites, no matter how legitimate and reputable they may be are there to make money, just like any other business. They publish what sells and often I don’t think they look at things very thoroughly because they just simply don’t have the time. So what Im saying is, enjoy keeping up with the news, but don’t take it too seriously!

It’s a shame you only lasted two days, but if you can now see the news for what it really is, i.e. a form of entertainment as opposed to a trusted source of information, then you are better off than before.
