My New Camera!

Exciting times are ahead for MichaelMcKinlay.com as I’ve acquired a new piece of technology that will surely revolutionize the way MichaelMcKinlay.com is presented! As Kurt Angle from the WWE used to say, “It’s true, oh it’s true!!!” Yes, I have bought myself a digital camera.

On Saturday, I bought myself a Nikon CoolPix S200. I bought it from a store Calgary called Vistek. I know this sounds like a plug(and I guess it is) for the store, but I recieved great customer service and I feel that deserves a mention.

I had gone to other stores in the Calgary area, and while their prices were not bad, it’s hard to get decent customer service as they are so big. Visetek was great as their prices were definitely on par with larger stores and they really know what they are talking about.

Tim N. was my salesperson and he was very good about answering my questions. I assume Tim receives a small commission off each sale but what impressed me was that he took the time to answer all of my questions even though I was interested in one of the “lower end” cameras. He definitely knew the products well and didn’t try to upsell me with features that I wouldn’t use. You could tell Tim was really into photography and it’s nice to see someone who has a passion for what they sell.

I’ve only had my Nikon CoolPix S200 for a few days but I really like it as it’s small, easy to use, and takes great shots. You can be sure to see many more photos on my site in the future as I now have the power!

I love good customer service as much as the next person, but I think people shop at stores based on bad experiences rather than good ones. If you were on the receiving end of bad customer service, you’ll never shop there again. If it’s average or better, you probably will.

One thing so common in Japan is electronic stores are filled with pretty young girls who know absolutely nothing about what they are selling, so you have to wait ages for them to find the one ugly bloke in the back of the store who can answer your questions.

Looking forward to seeing a photo-packed blog from you Mike.

Mike, you’re obviously a Kurt Angle fan, so check out this page of Kurt Angle quotes.

“I’m gonna break your freakin’ ankle!”

“Are you looking at my package? Quit looking at my package.”

    And many more…

    Hey thanks Nick,

Yeah quotes are probably the best thing in wrestling… my favorite from that list is the one where he says, “I’m Gonna make Hulk Hogan tap out like Mr. Bojangles on speed!”
