Talkin’ bout the PEACE!

October 8th, 2007 by Mike

After I finished my University studies, I got a job teaching English in Japan. I was teaching in mainly Junior High and Elementary schools and if there is one thing that I learned about the Japanese people, it was that they LOVE taking photos. Another thing I noticed was that when they took photos, they often posed by flashing the “peace” sign. I am not sure why they do this, but it seems to be an almost a standard practice.(At least when taking casual photos.)I thought this was kind of funny, and since then, I’ve got in to the habit of giving the peace sign when I take photos.

Recently, I learned that my former boss from an office I used to work in was getting transferred. She will be leaving the country soon and so I took her out for dinner. We had a nice meal and snapped a couple of photos. Inevitably, we had to take at least one “peace” shot or else things just wouldn’t feel right.

Woah! That’s really freaky! I never noticed how the third finger on my right hand sticks up in the air when I do the peace sign. No matter how hard I try, I can’t keep it down!

They give the peace sign son because it makes them appear more friendly!! At least that
is what my friend once said!!
I too tend too automatically put my two fingers up when a photo is taken of me! Does this
mean that I’m turning Japanese??????????????????????
However, I only put one finger up whan passing a spead camera on the highway and
needless to say, you know what finger that is haa haa haa!!!

Is it just me or have nealry all of your videos been removed from YouTube? Take a look at the Dave Chappelle posts. This could be MichaelMcKinlay.com’s darkest day! :-(

Yes its true, YouTube quickly removes the copywrighted material I guess… Oh well, I think MichaelMcKinlay.com is going to take a new direction and forget about videos that I have not specifically made!

And you and your third finger is strange Nick! Your’e a freak! But actually I get a similiar thing happening when I stick up some of my fingers…

Yes that was Mashiko-san! Yes, I love the Peace too, which is why I’ve written about it so much on my site! When I go to Japan this spring I’ll guarantee more peace photos!
