The Peace Is Important Business in Japan!
November 4th, 2007 by Mike
(The title of this post was inspired by my post on the Japanese Fad Song Oshiri Kajiri Mushi - The Bottom Biting Bug Song)

When I taught English in Japan, I sometimes would take pictures with my students and they would always pose using the “peace sign.” Not only did all the kids love doing it, some of the adult students did too! I always thought it was funny because after living there on and off for three years you would have thought that the novelty would have died off and people would either smarten up or have found a new “fad pose” to use. Oh, how wrong I was!!!

Actually, now I’ve become addicted to this phenomenon and everytime I go to take a picture, I just can’t help but flash my peace sign(unless of course it’s a serious photo, which it almost never is!)

I’d love to see you do it in your passport photo… serious, non-smiling, with the customary two fingers beside your face
Of course that would be impossible as they would never let you do such a thing! But if I could, I would!
