Getting The Best Insurance Rates
November 11th, 2007 by Mike
Recently, I had to renew my home insurance. I live in a condo and while the building is insured, the contents are not. I don’t have anything that’s of significant value, (such as jewels or treasure) but needless to say if there were a fire I’d be hit pretty hard. I wouldn’t even have a place to live and would need a hotel until I found some other living arrangement. Even taking the time of shopping around for replacements would be a huge expense.
I’ve been living in my place for just over a year now and while I felt I was getting a good rate from my provider, it never hurts to try and negotiate a lower one. You should always ask for a lower price, cause you never know, you might just get it! After a quick phone call I ended up saving 20% simply by asking them if their quote was their best offer. Turns out that since I had no claims for the previous year it helped me obtain a better rate.
Currently, I don’t have a car or pet and so I don’t require car insurance or pet insurance. If I did, I’d be calling a number of different providers and asking them for their best rates. You just never know what you may find out there!
