Whale Watching in Tofino, British Columbia – Part 1

In August, my brother got married in Tofino, British Columbia. Tofino is a small town located on the west side of Vancouver Island. It’s pretty much as far west as you can go in Canada.

Tofino is a fairly well known vacation spot in B.C. and one of the touristy things that you can do while there is Whale Watching. I’d never seen a live Whale and neither had my Uncle’s family, so we decided to take a tour. The company gave us some fancy life jacket suits and we were off!

The tour lasted about 2 hours and along the way we saw more than just Whales. We saw an American Bald Eagle(and it’s nest) Sea Walrus’s, Seals, and Sea Otters. My camera only has a 3x zoom and so it was difficult taking pictures, since our boat always had to maintain a certain distance from the wildlife.

These Otters were pretty funny cause they just kept playing with each other and watching our boat. I’m no animal expert but it was easy to tell that they were wondering what we were doing there.. We were watching them, watching us… It kind of felt like they were the tourists and we were the animals!

Playful Sea Otters

Isn’t it kind of ironic that I’ve entitled included “Whale Watching” in the title of this post, but haven’t included any pictures of Whales? Well that’s why “Part 1″ is also part of the title Einstein!! haha! Stay tuned, Part 2 is coming!

Hey, nice outfits! So if the whales are in part 2, will you wrap up the series with the Sushi Man? :-P
