Vandalism on Calgary Public Transit
November 25th, 2007 by Mike
I don’t have a car and so I use Calgary Transit nearly every day to get to the places that I need to go. The city of Calgary has been growing extremely fast and earlier this year the population reached 1,000,000. Thankfully, there has been a large increase in people using transit. On the flip side, I’ve also noticed more vandalism of the facilities and it almost depresses me when I see it.
I have no idea what kind of joy someone would get out of destroying public property. It must be a lot of fun though because it seems to happen all the time. The train stations have surveillance cameras in them but I wonder if Calgary Transit is really watching them. Here are a few pictures of a couple of train stations near my home:

These next two windows are about 20 feet high up and so I assume someone just threw a rock at them.

Someone actually took the time to scratch the glass. I wonder how long it took them.
