The Las Vegas Strip and Fremont Street

January 12th, 2008 by Mike

During the Christmas break I drove down to Arizona. On the way down there and also on the way back up I got to spend a night in Las Vegas. I was only in Vegas for a short time but I have to say it was definitely one of the best parts of the whole trip.

A very small part of the Vegas Strip.

The Las Vegas “strip” is what makes Vegas, Vegas. Lots of fancy hotels and neon lights. Even the McDonald’s had lots of neon on it’s sign.

Las Vegas is famous for the strip but another place equally as good is Fremont street. That’s where I met the “pimp” I was talking about in an earlier post. Fremont is pretty cool because no traffic is allowed and so you don’t have to worry about getting run over when you’re distracted by all of the neon lights. I should also mention that most of Fremont street has a roof over it which is actually world’s largest tv. I’ll write more about that in a future post.

Freemont Street at night.

Vegas is of course famous for it’s night life but it’s not a bad looking city even in the daytime! Lots of palm trees and it’s quite clean considering the thousands of tourists who visit everyday.

The strip during the daytime.

There are lots of things to see and do in Vegas and in my upcoming posts I’ll show you more of what I saw!

Yes, you should definitely go! Las Vegas is a lot of fun and there are so many things to see and do. It can be expensive but a lot of times there are free shows to, so it’s very good!

Calgary is only about 2.5 hour flight from Vegas, and there are many flights there everyday. So maybe you will have a chance to go when you come to Calgary!
