My One Year Anniversary
February 4th, 2008 by Mike
It’s been exactly one year since MichaelMcKinlay went online. I’ve certainly had my ups and downs over the past year both on and off this blog. The good thing though is that I think things are looking up.
Year in Review
I guess you could say in some ways that I’ve come full circle on this blog. In the beginning I wrote quite bit on just different things that I was interested in, much like what I’m doing now. Perhaps the biggest difference would be that I hardly ever feature any YouTube videos that are not my own. This is mainly due to the fact that so many YouTube videos that I like are often taken down from the site. The good thing now is that I am now able to make my own videos and have even created a category featuring Mike’s Videos.
Another reason that I feel like I’ve gone full circle is cause once again I am off to Japan. Well I may be getting a little ahead of myself here but it’s pretty much guaranteed that I will take a trip over to the land of the rising sun in around spring. I’m really looking forward to it, I mean I’ll get to see my best friends plus I’m sure this trip is going to give me so much material for blogging. If you are interested in Japan, you definitely should keep coming back to MichaelMcKinlay.com cause I can guarantee I’ll have some interesting posts! Actually I have quite a few photos from last year and over the next little while will feature some posts based on them.
The Life and Death of Pay Per Post. For a while there I was writing a number of stories for Pay Per Post. Pay Per Post was a cool cause it allowed me to make a little money to help subsidize the cost of hosting this blog. Basically I had to write about certain products and services and link to their pages in order to get paid. That was all well and good until Google came and punished bloggers by taking away their page ranks for having paid links on their blog. Anyway I’ve stopped that and for the past while have been focusing on myself! This is after all, MichaelMcKinlay.com
I don’t really know where my blog is headed but hopefully more and more people will find it and get some enjoyment from reading it. Like I said I plan to feature some more posts about my passion, which is Japan! I will of course though be writing about my daily experiences. Hope you’ve enjoyed my site and hope you keep coming back for more!
Here’s a list of my favorite stories in the past year!
10. Backwards Man
9. Ultra Cool Pizzicato Five
8. I hate David Caruso
7. Sushi Man
6. Gorgeous Glitter Gulch Girls
5. The Japanese Bottom Biting Bug

Good luck with the next year Mike and I’m sure with the experience you have now, it will be bigger and better
than this year!! You have had some very enjoyable stories and I look forward to more!!
Cheers Keith
Thanks Keith! Thanks for all of your comments and there is no doubt that you’ve helped spice this blog up! Can’t wait to see what your next comment is!
So you’re coming to Japan this spring, hmm? That’ll be just in time for my wedding ceremony!
I hope you have more fun in Japan than you did in Vegas. This country is far more exciting than some silly side-show city located in some arid desert
Congrats on the 1 year, too. Only 4 more to go before you can claim to be “Ancient”
Yup, should be there just before Golden Week!
Las Vegas was fun but yeah I’m definitely more interested in Japan! I’m actually thinking of buying an extra memory card because I’m sure I’ll be taking a lot pictures! I need to do some really in depth stories about Love Hotels, Maid Cafes, and Cosplay!
Congrats Mike, it’s been a rollercoaster, eh? Looking forward to more this year!
It sure has Nick! Although I think and hope that things are going to continue to go up!
Japan?! Wow! How long will you be gone?
Just over 3 weeks Heather! And Welcome to MichaelMcKinlay.com!
