30 Days Till Japan

March 19th, 2008 by Mike

In about a month I’ll be off to Japan for a nice long vacation. While there I’ll be hanging out with a couple of my best friends Nick and Keith.

Keith recently bought a new house near the beach and it’s located in a resort type area. It’s going to be awesome. It’s literally a 3 minute walk down to the beach and while I’m there he’s going to teach me surfing. The place that he bought is huge, it has like 10 rooms and 4 bathrooms. The reason why it’s so big is that it’s actually an old “bed and breakfast” type place. Keith is now having the place renovated and by the time I get there most of his stuff will be there and most of the renovations completed.

Nick just helped Keith move this past weekend and says it’s really nice. It’s not confirmed yet but I’m pretty sure that Nick and his family will join us for a few days at Keith’s place during Golden Week. It’s gonna be one, big, happy family living under one roof. The cool thing is that every person staying there could have their own room as there is that much space.

I don’t know if Keith will turn the place in to a “b & b” in the future but he certainly has the potential to do that if he wants. Keith’s wife is also studying Chinese medicine and Aroma Therapy which is also something that would be an excellent fit for that type of location. Keith could even turn the place in to an English Homestay or have his own surfing school. Who knows… maybe even both! It’s all just so full of potential! I’m so happy for him!

You can be assured that my trip to my second home in Japan will be very well documented on MichaelMcKinlay.com.

P.S. I’ve also challenged Keith to a ping pong match. Exact details need to be worked out but I can tell you that it’s on. At any rate I expect he’ll be humiliated and destroyed when I’m through with him. ;)

I look forward to reading your posts about Japan. If you happen to be in the Gifu or Nagoya area for any amount of time, maybe we can all hook up.

I’ll be a bit busy during Golden Week (wedding ceremony and other family stuff going on), but afterwards things will be pretty calm :)

Hey Jason, sounds good! Im definitely going to be spending some time in Gifu and will most likely visit Nick in Kakamigahara! We should definitely meet up for some ramen, and call it dot com ramen! (John Chow has his dot com Pho group)

I’ll be busy during Golden Week as well but I will be in and around Gifu the week before and the week after. Let me know what you think!

The week after Golden Week sounds good. Perhaps we could all go for ramen or something just as good around May 10th?

My wife and I are having our wedding ceremony during Golden Week, and we’ll be entertaining some of my friends and family from Canada and Denmark while they’re here, so that week is pretty much gone. However, I should be free on the Sundays and Mondays after :)

Don’t underestimate yourself, Mike. I think you have every chance of beating him in a game of ping pong. From what I’ve heard, he’s trying to avoid playing you, so I guess he doesn’t have much confidence, either.

I’m worried that he is going to start training, giving him an unfair advantage. Keith does not like to lose!

Wankers the lot of you!! (Not you Jason) Yeah what is that bloody line “keith does not like to lose” all about!!!!
Tell me someone who likes to lose Son????? Saying that, I feel God will be on my side and the winner will be both us because there will be no undue violence!! (Read between the lines here!!)

Keith

I just talked with Fukuhara Ai-chan and will start practice next week with her before she starts her Olympic campaign!!

PS. Hope you have a lovely day for your wedding Jason!!

Nobody likes to lose but all I was trying to say is that you would rather die than lose. It’s called sarcasm Keith, learn it, know it, use it, then learn it!

As for Fukuhara I’m not too worried as I’m flying to China tomorrow to train for a month with Ping Pong great, Wong Foo Chong at his Ping Pong Dojo nestled in the secret mountains of the Forbidden City. Yes, the Forbidden City actually has a mountain range in it which no one knows about except for the true Ping Pong Grand-Masters. See you later, elevator!(listen to Arctic Monkeys - BrianStorm)

Yeah Jason, have a nice wedding!

Wong foo chong sounds like a bloody bowl of noodles son and that is what I will do to you on the day!Turn you into a jelly blubbering mess!
I will eat you for dinner my young jedi wanna-be!! As for the sarcasm comment, mmmmm it goes into my memory bank (Quite small these days!) and the pain of a thousand arrows will be thrusted into your eye sockets!
If by the measure of God I happen to lose (that will happen only if I have two broken arms, my legs amputated, and my head stitched on backwards) I will humbly bow to your superior abilities and then proceed to punch the living ###t out of you!

Daddy / Keith

In no way at all is this mail intended to intimidate you Son!!! I also want to point out that while I find myself to be in reasonable shape, you will be facing a man who is way pass his prime, has rare and curious symptons of a depressive nature and at times can hardly lift his arms. That aside, I will still kick the living crap out of you!!!
