Recently I started riding my bike to work. I’m really glad that I made this decision as there are so many positives that are coming out of it. Let me list them!
1. Exercise – A.K.A. – “Bringing my sexy back.” Currently, I am not playing any regular sports or working out so this is a good alternative. Besides, I hate working out, it’s sooo boring!
2. Save Money – (Well… kind of…) I guess I still need to get a transit pass since I’m car-less but if I didn’t this I’d be saving cash money yo!
3. Save Time – On a good day I can actually ride my bike faster to work than walking to the train station. I can also take my bike on the train or even on the bus if I want and that will take me to other places faster! Oh yeah and I can come and go as I please, no more having to wait for delayed trains and buses.

5. Being One with Nature – Ditching the car and taking transit to work is awesome, but I like to kick it up a notch, cause that’s how I roll daaaawg… (literally) I don’t need any electricity(like I would for the train) or diesel(for the bus) to power my bike! Powered by Mike y’all!

My name is Michael McKinlay and I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Although I was born here, I have lived in a few other places in Western Canada such as, Saskatoon, Regina, Medicine Hat, and Edmonton. I also spent time in Hong Kong and Japan. [
Good looking bike there Mike!! Do think it is cool that you ride to work but God it must be cold!! Spring in Calgary is like the heat of Winter here in Japan!!
Keith
The coldest I’ve ridden in so far is -10 degrees Celsius. That was pretty cold but if I wear the right clothing, I’m as sound as a pound.
Mike, I admire your spirit yo! You’re saving the planet while getting your sexy back, and if you print this out, pin it by your bedside and read it every day, you can keep this biking streak going way beyond your current record of four days!
Actually my streak is currently at 9 days, but today it will end. As I’m writing this there is a huge snow storm and I am playing Laser-Tag tonight with my co-workers after work. The Laser-Tag place is way in the south of Calgary so even if I had great weather I’d still be using the train. Perfect timing!
Don’t forget that the bus passes are tax deductible! It works out to about eleven to fifteen dollars back in your pocket per month. You’ve just gotta remember to hang on to them.
Indeed, Heather!
Bus passes can be tax deductible wow that is cool. I have never heard of that but really do think it is a great idea!!
I wonder if they have the same thing in Aussie-land. God they should have that everywhere!!
Keith
Yeah the government just instituted that program yesterday. I think it’s in response to curbing Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions. Of course it’s really just a drop in the bucket, but hey it saves me some dough!
Riding bike is fun and it is good for your health.
It sure is Moldova! It sure is!
Yes it looks like a nice bike and I know you are enjoying the bicycling since it saving you money. It is also great exercise!!! Just keep the riding safe.
