Family Mart - A Japanese Convenience Store
June 25th, 2008 by Mike
Today’s report was made possible by the the good people of Japan’s Family Mart. You can find Family Mart nearly everywhere in Japan, and believe you me, they have some interesting items to sell you! For starters, perhaps you are a “fashionally” challenged man and want to know what all the “cool kids” are wearing… Everything from hair dye to eyeliner… Yes Men’s Digger is for you!
Mmmmm… doesn’t tickle your fancy??? Need something to make you look a little bit unhealthier, little more pale shall we??? OK then try the hilarious Men’s Joker magazine! I think the man on the cover looks like the kind of guy that would be a barrel of laughs!
Well by now you might be feeling a bit thirsty… so why don’t you have some sweat? Pocari Sweat that is… This stuff is like the Gatorade of Japan! Seriously, it really is a sports drink and it actually tastes pretty good too! If you are curious and can’t catch a flight to Japan, you might be able to find it at your local Asian grocery store. However you should be prepared to pay something ridiculous like around $5 for it. In Japan, it costs about $1.50, just like Coke!
I can’t tell you how many times I have wondered around Japan in the heat and thought to myself, “Geeze, If only I had something to replenish my ion supply… oh wait a minute!”
Of course no drink is complete without something to snack on. Some chocolate you say? OK well have a Crunky!!! This must have been what Lil’ John and all those other rap artists from Atlanta must eat before they creating their masterpieces.
Don’t like Chocolate? OK well how about some Cheese crackers? Although it might be hard to make a decision because you can either have 51% Cheeza, or 52% Cheeza… Oh Heavens to Betsy… How will I ever decide?
Of course theres always an Egg Dog! Doesn’t than name make you want to just dig in? MMMM mmmm mmm delicious!
Ha! Contrary to what my shirts says I was just pretending and I actually bought some Panky! I would have bought Hanky but sadly it was no where to be found.

I couldn’t find any Hanky chocolate to go with the Panky, but this is pretty close.
Yes, who could forget Mr. Haacky the Christmas Poo?
There’s a “Family Mart” in the ICT building… even the font looks similar to the “real” Family Mart in Japan (except for the colour).
Yeah I think I’ve seen it before. In case other readers don’t know what the ICT building, it’s on the campus of the University of Calgary. My workplace, shhhh don’t tell anyone!
I wonder if they made the sign like that on purpose.
I heard Famimart may be coming to the USA - probably without the amusing snacks & drinks, though.
Oh it just won’t be the same then! They should keep the same product line and they would probably do some killer business!
