Last week my Mom was in town for a wedding and on Sunday afternoon we went out for lunch. My Mom usually drives to Calgary and when she does, I make the most of it by “borrowing” her car to run a few errands. See, the thing is I don’t have a car. I guess I could buy one but financially speaking, it just isn’t worth it to me. Well… for the time being anyways.
The other part to this story is that I also don’t have a membership to Costco. In case you don’t know what Costco is, it’s a basically a giant warehouse that sells everything in bulk at totally insane-o prices!!! And by insane-o, I mean good! Costco has nearly everything that your little heart could desire, from food, to clothes, to electronics, to many other everyday household goods. The thing is, with Costco, you need to have a paid membership. Thankfully Mummy also has that too!
You will also need a car as everything is economy size. Hmmm, I might have to write a post on my shopping experience the next time I go to Costco
So as I was saying, when Mummy roles in to town we go to Costco and I load up. When I say load up. I mean it! Here’s some examples, you can’t just buy a roll of paper towel, you have to buy a jumbo package of twelve. You can’t just buy a dozen roles of toilet paper, you have to buy a package of 36! You can’t just buy a 750 ml bottle of dish washing soap, you have to buy 4 litres(roughly the equivalent of a U.S. gallon.) Sure that’s a lot of stuff, but hey it’s ok because you bought them at totally insane-o prices!
I bought quite a few different things and while it will probably take me at least 6 months to go through it all, it’s no problem as I have plenty of storage space in my basement. My brother also came along this day and so he ended up buying quite a bit of stuff as well. Sadly, my Mom’s car isn’t a Hummer and is only a mid-size Honda Accord. We loaded the trunk and the backseat but as you are about to see kind of ran out of space.

Mummy doesn’t like!

My name is Michael McKinlay and I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Although I was born here, I have lived in a few other places in Western Canada such as, Saskatoon, Regina, Medicine Hat, and Edmonton. I also spent time in Hong Kong and Japan. [
Buying that much toilet paper would be too embarrassing for me, i wouldn’t want everyone to think i had trouble with my bowels!
Yeah, but as I said the price was wicked-awesome yo!
I’ll never come to Calgary again!!!!!
Remnd me never to come to Calgary again!!!!!
Wow, you owe your mum big time! Why not take her out for lunch next time you visit your folks?
That’s a good suggestion Nick!
Hello, Michael McKinlay’s mummy!
