So I’ve got a great idea to help Alaska Airlines to improve their marketing. My recommendation is to simply change the logo on their planes. Get rid of the old Eskimo man on the tail and replace him with someone or something more “attractive.”
Obviously Alaska Airlines specializes in flights to Alaska but let’s face it, who would you rather be with? An old Eskimo man who looks like he’s freezing….
OR…….
A young, attractive, beautiful woman with flowers in her long, thick hair? Hmm I wonder…
I know this idea may sound superficial and shallow, but it’s all about the marketing. You want to make your brand as attractive as possible and while the “Eskimo” may represent Alaska to a certain extent it doesn’t do much for the eye. Humans are visual and when we have something nice to look at it helps us remember it. This is exactly what you want when you brand your product. Therefore, I give Hawaiian Airlines a big thumbs up! OK marketing lesson complete!

My name is Michael McKinlay and I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Although I was born here, I have lived in a few other places in Western Canada such as, Saskatoon, Regina, Medicine Hat, and Edmonton. I also spent time in Hong Kong and Japan. [
She’ll be freezing, too, at 30,000 feet!
MM: Maybe you should host the MichaelMcKinlay.com Photo Challenge and encourage readers to photoshopy entries for the best-ever airplane tail design. Then submit the results to AAL.
Not a bad idea Jeff!
