One of my favorite things to do in Calgary is to ride my bike. There are a lot of great paths to ride on and one of my personal favorites is the Bow River Pathway. The pathway runs along the Bow River and has a lot of great scenery and places to take pictures from.
The pathway is really nice because the scenery is different depending on where you are. The pathway is sometimes straight and in the open and at other times it feels like you might be riding through a forest. (Like in this next photo.)
The pathway can quite busy on the weekends with pedestrians, joggers, and people riding with their family down the path. One day when I have a family I’d like hitch up one of these baby carrier carts to my bike.
It must be so much fun for a kid to ride in one of these things!
The next three shots are of Calgary’s Bow River Valley from the top of the hills. Look closely at the second photo down and you’ll see the Canadian Rockies.
Here’s a shot of Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. The big tower building is the ski jump. In the winter time many people go skiing because its right in the city and is fairly inexpensive if you have a family pass.
The next couple of photos show some people playing by the river and some rafters just floating on down the river. I really want to try that sometime!
And that concludes my bike tour! Happy Trails to you! Until we met again….

My name is Michael McKinlay and I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Although I was born here, I have lived in a few other places in Western Canada such as, Saskatoon, Regina, Medicine Hat, and Edmonton. I also spent time in Hong Kong and Japan. [
In that third shot…just before the bend in the path is a little off-leash dogwalking area and a gravel(ish) path. You can take your bike on it and cruise through. It’s wonderfully silent and green, and there are a few little tracks that split off it and lead to a small pond that is full of peeper frogs.
Looks nice. Can’t believe they need a line to divide the path in two, though. I dare you to cross it!
